Y-Strainers are the welded design of the well-known inclined seat cast dirt traps. They serve the general protection of system parts from contamination and combine the positive properties of the angled seat design with the advantages of the welded construction. Space-saving strainer installation, optimal emptying and flushing, even with vertical installation, are the advantages of this design. Identical materials, wall thicknesses and the same application limits, delivery and acceptance conditions as the connecting pipe are considered advantages of the welded construction.

A branch is welded into a base pipe. This Y-branch connector accommodates the strainer insert in round profile guide rails. Seamless tubes are used as standard for the housing. The strainer can be inserted, removed and cleaned through the service opening on the branch. As with the T-strainer, fitting the insert into the housing is the essential design and manufacturing detail. The perforated plate-supported filter screen is equipped with wire mesh of the required mesh size. The filter surface is at an inclination angle of 120° -135° to the main flow axis. Combined with the large filter area, about twice the area of the T-sieve, the discharge of contamination into the branch leads to a very favorable pressure loss in continuous operation. The constant flushing of the main flow area, the large dirt holding volume in the long branch and the large filter surface ensure an extremely favorable service life.
