Hat type strainers

Standard hat type strainers are used as start-up strainers during commissioning to protect pumps, compressors and measuring and control systems. With two gaskets, clamped between a pair of flanges according to EN 1092-1 or ASME B 16.5, the large filter surface offers a long service life with low pressure loss. The flow from the inside to the outside offers the greatest strength.

The geometry of the strainer as a cone represents the ideal adaptation to the flow profile in the pipe. In the center, the area of the highest flow velocity, the bottom can be flowed through. The strainer surface is accommodated in the shortest possible length. 1.5 times the free pipe cross-section is defined as the minimum requirement for the free filter area of the standard hat strainers. The cone angle and the bottom diameter are coordinated so that installation in flanged weld fittings with DIN EN and ASME lengths is possible.

Hat type strainers are equipped with an identification flat. This protrudes over the flange edge and signals the installation location. Materials, batch, TAG numbers, nominal size and pressure level are stamped. This means that the hat strainers are clearly identifiable and have inspection certificates according to EN 10204 - 3.1 or 3.2.
